The role
A Trailrock Platform Engineer owns the buildout of a partner company's platform, end to end: data orchestration, custom AI tooling, and custom application development. They apply Liquid Ontology and Platform Engineering principles in the specific context of the partner's business, not as a generic template stamped onto a new client, but as a model built from the DNA of that company.
Visible by design
This isn't a backend role hidden behind a Change Manager or a project lead. Platform Engineers interact directly with the partner company and sit alongside the Change Manager as a visible member of the team, included in business conversations, not just engineering ones. The reasoning behind a technical decision matters as much as the decision itself, and that reasoning has to be legible to the people who will own the platform after Trailrock leaves.
Who we look for
Trailrock looks for data experts who aren't afraid to work across the full stack. Depth in data is the anchor, but a Platform Engineer who can only work in one layer of the system can't do this job. The willingness to move up and down the stack, and to sit in the room with the business side of a partner company rather than staying heads-down in the codebase, is what makes the role work.
